Important Project Scheduling Terms

There are a number of important terms related to project planning and scheduling. Starting with communication about a plan becomes task when you are not up to date with all the planning dialects. Here below are some important project planning terms, every planner should know them for the smooth work process:

Project Management Software


Assumption: There are several conditions for the success of a project. So one must be able to assume the time period required to achieve the goal and what will be the plans for the project.  Assumptions are important  because the set they context for which period you are going to work for a particular project or particular task of the project.

Customers : The person who directly gain benefit from the project is a client or customer. These are the people who hire firms for their work purpose. Understanding the need and work requirement of customer is very important.
Critical Path : Path is the sequence of activities for the project required to follow to achieve the success. It is the long term used throughout the project is running. If any activity is delayed the entire project will get affected by this.
Delivery : Delivery is the outcome we have received in the last of the project. All projects are  created deliverables. These can be papers (documents), plans, building, computer systems, etc.

Functional Manager : The manager  is the person withing your organization to whom you report for the work. Check the performance of individuals on a regular basis. If your project manager is different from your functional manager, your organization is probably utilizing matrix management.

Issues : An issue is a major problem that can be encountered any time during the work process. So one should have an ability to sense or detect issues and must resolve them before any major loss.  Basically, this is  project manager's work.

Milestone
: Milestone signifies the completion of major delivery. By definition, A milestone has a duration of zero and no effort. It is a flag which signifies that some other work has completed.

Project : The project is the structure for work management . All projects are unique by definition, so it is difficult to compare different projects with one another.

Project Team : Project team consists full time and part time, resources who are working on various different tasks for the project. They are responsible for the task assigned to them.

Workplan(Schedule) : Work plan tells you the path to complete the project work. It describes required activities, work sequence, time required for the work completion, etc. The work scheduling allows the project manager to identify the work required to complete the project and also allows the manager to monitor the work to determine whether the project is on schedule.
